Maile, this made me tear up—in a good way, of course! I nodded along in understanding, especially this bit: "I am no longer the necessary cog that makes her life hum along. She’s figuring out how to do that for herself" ...Phew. If that's not both the mother's lament and praise, I don't know what is. 💛
Oh, Kris, it is glorious and tender work, isn't it? But it's good to know that others are doing it too and to find community in this labor of love. Thanks for reading, friend!
This is so beautiful. As a mother of an amazing 27 year old young woman, I understand that there is nothing quite like realizing your little girl is all grown up. I am amazed everyday by my daughter but it is also bittersweet because time passes too fast. Every time I see a mother with a new baby, I always try to remind them to treasure that time because in a blink, your baby is all grown up.

Perfectly put, Tsh, "a mother's lament and praise." Yes, indeed!
Maile, this brought up all the feels. I’m working myself out of a job as we speak, and it’s glorious and tender all at once. Thank you for this...🤍
